Mission Mountains

Top Attractions: Mission Reservoir and McDonald Lake provide easy access to the Mission Mountains. You can drive up to both spots and enjoy a picnic by the water, or venture further afield for waterfalls, alpine lakes, and pristine wilderness.

Know Before You Go: Non-tribal members will need a Tribal Conservation Permit to visit and hike in the Mission Mountains. You may obtain this permit just down the road from our venue at Allard’s Stagestop in St. Ignatius. Hikes in this area are mostly unmarked, so please bring a map with you (we offer a complimentary one in the loft apartment). Additionally, please be respectful and observant of restricted areas that are for Confederated Salish & Kootenai tribal members only, as well as seasonal closures for grizzly bear habitat.
