Travel Information and Driving Directions to Rugged Horizon

Overview of the Area

Our wedding venue/vacation rental is located in western Montana’s idyllic Mission Valley, surrounded by rolling hay fields and with spectacular views of the Mission Mountain s and the Bison Range. Many people refer to this area as the “Switzerland of the West” because of the rugged peaks that rise up from the valley floor. Our venue is also located inside the boundaries of the Flathead Indian Reservation, home to three tribes — the Bitterroot Salish, the Upper Pend d’Oreille, and the Kootenai. This area has a rich cultural heritage and you can learn more about it by visiting such sites as the Bison Range, the Three Chiefs Cultural Center, the St. Ignatius Mission, and Fort Connah. Whether you choose to stay here and explore the Mission Valley, or whether you prefer to use this as a jumping off point for other Montana adventures, we are near many scenic attractions. Our venue is situated:

35 minutes north of Missoula;
35 minutes south of Flathead Lake (Polson);
2 hours from the west entrance to Glacier National Park;
4 hours to access points for the Bob Marshall Wilderness; and
5 hours to Yellowstone National Park.

Driving Directions to the Venue

To drive to our venue, you will take Montana Highway 93, either north from Missoula or south from Polson/Flathead Lake. We are located approximately 5 minutes south of the town of St. Ignatius.

Lodging and Accommodations for Wedding Guests

For the wedding couple, the barn has a spacious, fully-furnished loft apartment so that you can stay on-site. For wedding guests who choose to stay in St. Ignatius, a hotel and vacation rentals are located nearby. Wedding guests also frequently choose to stay in Missoula so that they have convenient access to the airport.

Buses, Taxis, and Ride-Share Information

Clients often charter a bus or shuttle to transport guests to the venue from Missoula; we are happy to provide referrals for this convenient option. Taxis and ride-sharing companies such as Uber and Lyft are hard to find in our area, thus we recommend driving your own car or renting a vehicle to get to and from our venue.

Air Travel

The Missoula Airport is the closest airport to our venue, and is approximately 40 minutes south.

Other airport options are as follows:

Glacier International Airport (approximately 2 hours north of our venue);
Spokane International Airport (approximately 3.5 hours west of our venue, in Washington State).
